Dr. Avishek Anand talks about a step change in technology at the OAY

"Every now and then, there comes a step change in technology. As a consequence of these technologies, like the wheel, the printing press and the internet, there is a marked improvement in the productivity of humans, mainly because of automation of manual labour. Does it mean that everything is hunky-dory, now that we are at the initial baby steps of a new wave of AI? I would say ‘not quite’." It can help us design better windfarms, or unravel the intricate dance of human behaviour in our urban environment. It can change how we research disease or diagnose and treat illness. The list goes on. However, along with the rapid advent of AI come concerns about social and ethical implications. That is why at TU Delft, we work on the design and engineering of human-centred AI systems, where we bring together societal needs and AI capabilities.
