Naturalis is the protector of a huge national natural history collection of more than 42 million objects. It is a collection of collections, one of them being a large botany collection, also consisting of several herbaria. One of them is probably the most beautiful herbarium on the planet: the Rauwolf Herbarium, from Syria, anno domini 1574!
